Notorious!

So we are halfway through another week! Last weekend was pretty fun, we went out for Alison's birthday to a Japanese Steakhouse on Friday and on Saturday we went to see the Biggie Smalls movie "Notorious", so I got in touch with my inner gangster. It was nice to spend the day with Bert and we came home and made buffalo chicken dip together.

This week at work has been on the stressful side, since it is end of the month and it has been a little slow this week, but I am not going to worry over it. Also I have been so tired, so when it's slow sometimes I think I could just fall asleep at my desk! I am getting anxious to tell my coworkers and friends about Squiggy, but I'd like to wait at least until my next doctors appointment which is Feb. 13th.

Speaking of Squiggy, he/she has grown to the size of a kidney bean! I am still feeling pretty good, sometimes tired, with some occasional heartburn. I feel lucky not to get that wonderful morning sickness that I read so much about.

I can 't wait for Friday to get here, cause one of my best friends, Heather, will hopefully find out the sex of her baby. She said she thinks it's a boy, and I think I do too! She will be really annoyed if the baby is facing the wrong way, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for her!

Well, only 2 days till the weekend!

Squiggy Bologna Gary

Here is the first pic of our new addition........According to babycenter.com, Squiggy is about the size of a blueberry!

Catching up to do...

So a lot has happened since my first blog! I went to Salt Lake City to visit Bert while he was there for training for his new job. It was amazing. SLC is in a valley - so pretty much there are snow covered mountains whichever direction you look. When I arrived Bert took me out for Italian and I had BLACK fettucini with lobster sauce which sounds weird but it was awesome. On the second day Bert and I, along with his buddy Don and his three girls went on a sleigh ride, and then went back to Don's family's house where his nine months pregnant wife made us dinner! She really didn't have to, but they are such a nice family! On my last day we went to Park City and went shopping, I got some funny PJ bottoms with ducks on them that say "butt quack"! We watched some skiiers and just relaxed it was really nice!

We have also let family and a few close friends know about my pregnancy! Everyone was so excited! I even got our first baby gift from my uncle's fiance, Mary Kay. Cute little baby stuff! I got our first sonogram and got to see and hear the heartbeat, it was awesome. I felt bad because Bert was still in Utah, but he will come to the remainder of the appointments. We have decided to temporarily name the baby "Squiggy Bologna Gary", but we just say "Squiggy". I am feeling pretty good just tired often, and this morning I had my first bout of morning sickness, I was at work but luckily made it to the restroom in time! Hopefully that was a one time thing!

My first official blog!

I think I am ready to join the world of blogging. I am not to sure how to do much at this point, like add pictures and other fun stuff, but I'm sure I can figure it all out. The main reason that I want to start documenting things is because we recently got some great news. Bert and I are gonna have a baby! Here is the story of how we found out. Last month was the first month that we officially "tried" as in counting days, and all that fun stuff, so it's not a complete surprise to get a positive test. In any case, we had our Christmas trip to Florida planned, which usually consists of a bit of partying and drinking with friends and family. Well, most of the tests say to wait until you are at least a week late (which I wasn't) for an accurate reading but I didn't want to go to Florida and booze it up and hang out in smoky bars if there was even a chance, so I took a test while Bert was at school taking a final and it came back positive. I couldn't wait to tell him the great news, so I told him while he was driving and hoped that he didn't run off the road!

Florida was interesting to say the least because we didn't want to tell anyone until the doctor confirmed things, and I am not a good faker. Pretending to drink alcohol was cheesy to me, so I just didn't drink and hoped no one would notice. Well my friends know me better than that cause a couple of them did call me out on it!

When we got back we had a doctors appointment and the doctor said it's too early to see the heartbeat, but we did have our first sonogram which just looked like a dark spot. It wasn't too exciting but after I left I was kicking myself for not asking for a copy, but maybe they don't give a copy until there is more action in there! In any case he said everything was where it needed to be and I had a blood test which they said looked good and then another blood test today to make sure my hormone levels are going up. I should hear from them next week. In about two weeks we should be able to go back and hopefully see the heartbeat and once that happens, we will share the good news with our families!

In the meanwhile I am adjusting to all of the excitement and trying to remember all of the dietary restrictions, but luckily Bert is very helpful and reminds me to eat my fruits and veggies!

Well I should have time to write again soon, Bert is leaving for Utah on Sunday, so I will back on the blog!
