Girlfriends!

What a fun weekend! My great friend Amanda came up to visit. Yestderday we went and got pedicures together, and then went to an English pub for dinner. It was pretty funny that we went to a pub considering we are BOTH preganant and can't drink! After that we came home and watched a movie and just spent some time together. Today we went out to lunch with Heather and Karen and then went to the mall to look at maternity clothes and check out some of the other stores. Suprisingly for me, I left empty handed, but Amanda got her first maternity outfit!
I am so glad that she is here and that we are still great friends after almost 12 years! Next month we are going down to Tallahassee to spend the big 3-0 with her! I can barely believe how fast time has gone by!
Speaking of exciting trips, we are going to Savannah in a week and a half for our annual vacation. I have never been, but Bert said its fun. He is really looking forward to going on a ghost tour and I want to try Paula Deen's restauarant. Not the most glamerous vacation, but hey, we've got a baby to save up for!
Squiggy and I are still feeling good. I felt good during the first trimester, but now I feel even better, I have gotten back a lot of my energy and am really starting to get a belly! I will post more belly pics soon! I have been a little lazy with the camera lately. Well, wish me a luck, it's month end at my job, and I've got my work cut out for me!

Good Baby, Bad Kitty!

Ah, what a weekend! Bert and I got to spend some time with one of our favorite babies, Sylvie on Saturday. I was a little nervous, that maybe she'd be upset without her parents around, or maybe Bert and I wouldn't be able to make a bottle. Well, Sylvie was very good, and I think we did a good job of watching her. Now we should have been on easy street, but noooooooo. My cat Miller was apparently jealous and peed in her car seat! Luckily we cleaned it, and Karen and Ralph were nice enough to say we didn't have to replace it, but now I am worried that when Squiggy comes, Miller will be peeing on the crib, in the stroller, etc! I spoke with a "cat whisperer" today, actually it was a lady that works at a cat clinic, and she gave me all types of advice. Some is practical, bring baby smells, and maybe even a CD of baby sounds into the house early, but some was a little wacky to me. For instance removing the door to the nursery and replacing it with a screen door. Not gonna work. Or she even suggested if all else fails, giving him Prozac. I hope there will be some left over for me. Just kidding! Below are some pictures of us and Sylvie.

Now, throw your hands in the air, and waive 'em like you just don't care!

Getting sleepy...

And she's down for the count!

As far as my pregnancy is concerned I am still doing good, although I feel like I am in desperate need of a massage. My shoulders and neck have been so sore for about a week. I called around like a crazy lady today to about five spas begging for an appointment for TODAY, but no one can do a prenatal massage with such short notice. Hopefully Bert will be a sport and rub my shoulders! I am 16 weeks today, and Squiggy is the size of an avocado! It cracks me up that this particular website compares the baby to a fruit or veggie weekly but I guess it helps me visualize the size of the baby. 3 1/2 weeks till we find out the gender! Hooray!

"I'd Rather Laugh With The Sinners Than Cry With The Saints" - Billy Joel

So last night was the Billy Joel/Elton John concert that I have been waiting for for months. It was awesome! Both performers were amazing, but in my opinion Billy Joel was a far better entertainer, and by this I mean joking with the audience, getting up from the piano to dance or play guitar, etc. I knew every Billy Joel song, and the majority of Elton's so it was fun to sing along and watch the "legends" play together! I will post some concert pics soon. Bert and I decided that it was a good idea to take the train down since it was raining and there were a number of events in the city that would cause traffic. Well the train was totally packed and hot and I was dreading taking it home, because I knew it would be even more packed! LUCKILY, our friends Carrie and Bob were at the concert too, and they offered to drive us back to the train station that our car was at. I was soooo grateful!

Today Bert and I slept in, which is a rarity, and went to the mall. I got a few more maternity shirts, because I realized most of the shirts I got before are on the dressier side, and I dress really casually for work. I think between what I already bought, what Karen loaned me and what my neighbor said she will loan me, I will hopefully be good in the clothes department for at least a few months! Also, I could be imagining things, but I may have felt a few kicks. I heard they feel like a butterfly fluttering in your stomach and I have felt that a couple of times over the past few days.

I am looking forward to a great, busy work week, that I hope will go by fast, because next weekend Bert and I are babysitting sweet baby Sylvie!

The Countdowns Have Begun!!

Bert and I are going to see Elton John and Billy Joel tomorrow night!! I am so excited! This is the show I have most wanted to see for years! We saw Billy Joel last year and it was awesome, so I bet this will be even better. Our wedding dance was to Billy Joel and the last song of our wedding was Piano Man, so Billy will always have a place in my heart.
Also Bert and I went to the doctor today for my monthly check up and everything was looking great. The baby's heartbeat was in the 160's, which is very healthy. Speaking of countdowns, we found out that on our next appointment they will do the ultrasound that will show the baby's gender!! Five weeks from today, April 17th!

From Snow to Sunshine!

It's crazy to think that last weekend it was snowing, because today it was 75 degrees and beautiful! Actually, we had great weather for the whole weekend and we really took advantage of it! On Friday, Bert and I went for a walk around the subdivision and then came back and grilled up some steaks, and went over to our neighbors for a visit.

Saturday, we went on a nice long walk on the Greenway, which is a 6 mile long paved nature trail. We didn't walk the whole thing, but I would guess we went nearly 4 miles. We then went to babies r us to check out the crib selection. It's actually pretty funny, but we already have a furnished guest room, which will become the nursery, so we are looking for a crib that will match the dressers that we have in there. We need a cherry wood one, but the are tons of different shades of cherry, and I'd like them to at least be a close match, so when we walk into a store we have to lug in a drawer from the night stand. We didn't really have any luck, but there are plenty more places to check out and we have time. In the evening we went to a housewarming party at Tony and Kelly's and it was fun. I got to see some people that I haven't seen in years, which is always nice and their house is beautiful.

Today we just ran some errands and then I went to a "ladies lunch" at my friend Rachel's house. She had about six of us over and made homemade shrimp bisque and got some wraps and the gals had mimosas and I had OJ with ginger ale. Everyone had a nice time. Now Bert and I are just relaxing. He's on spring break this week so we'll be spending a lot of time together.

This pic below is not a "belly pic" because in my all black outfit it was kind of hard to see, but this was my first time out in a maternity outfit, as in pants AND shirt, so I figured I'd document it in the blog.

Bert's Baby Back's...

Came out great, and Squiggy agrees!

Awesome weekend!

Today is Sunday and we are wrapping up a really great weekend! Friday night Heather and I had a "pregnant girls night." These usually consist of dinner and a movie and this Friday was no different. We also went to the bookstore and got this book called Baby Bargains per her friends recommendation. It's a bunch of tips and advice of all things baby, from maternity clothes to furniture, and pretty much anything you can think of.

Saturday Karen, Ralph, Sylvie, Bert and I went to the Big Apple Circus and we had a great time. We had great seats and it was so much fun to see all of the performers. I used to go to this circus all the time when I was little and my favorite clown was "Grandma," and I was so glad she is still part of the show! I also got a bunch of maternity clothes. I wouldn't say I "look" like I need them, but they are really comfy, so I'll probably start wearing them very soon!

Today, Bert and I are being bums and just spending time together since earlier today is was pouring rain, and now it is snowing. He is making his yummy baby back ribs, and I did a little spring cleaning, although it does not feel like spring at all! All in all, this has been a wonderful weekend, and I am not ready for it to end!
