RIP Grandpa Irv

6/6/28-6/18/09
I heard the news this morning that my grandpa has passed away. Not a huge shock, as his health has been failing recently, but still very sad nonetheless. I am very glad that we got to spend some time together this past Memorial day weekend, hopefully it meant as much to him as it did to me. I will always remember my grandpa being full of jokes, and his home being full of music. I am sad to know that baby Camryn will not get to meet him, but he and my grandma will watch over her together from heaven. Love you gramps!

Get in my belly! Week 28 pic!

So a couple of times in the last week or so strangers have come up to me and ask what I do. I'm thinking that's a little strange but one time I answered, "I sell medical equipment" and another time I just asked her "for a living?" Geez, I must be pretty important if strangers want to know what I do! Nope, they both looked at me and repeated themselves "WHEN are you due?" DUH!

Deja Vu All Over Again

Today I had what was supposed to be a routine doctors appointment, but when we got there we found out the midwife that we were supposed to meet today was delivering a baby, so they put me with a doctor who happened to be there today. We listened to the heartbeat, which was sounding good, and my health is very good, but then I got a little bit of bad news. For some reason they took my glucose test too early the first time, so we have to redo it in two weeks. It's not the end of the world, I just had an all day long dull headache after the first one, so hopefully I won't have that issue again. I will also have tasted both the orange and fruit punch drinks when it's all said and done, so I will let everyone know which is the lesser of two evils.

I am now going to start going to the doctor every two weeks, which means that I am nearing the end of the pregnancy. Actually I hit my third trimester tomorrow! We got the glider chair in the nursery, and things are looking great. I am halfway done cutting drawer liners, so Camryn's clothes will smell a little like lavender! Bert has school four nights a week, and it's a little stressful, because there is so much I want to do before the baby comes, as far as cleaning and organizing, but it's hard to do it alone. It will all pay off when Bert has his degree, so I'll try not to complain :-)

This weekend is jam packed. Friday night we are driving down to see one of Bert's good friends who is in town for work. We'll have dinner and catch up. Saturday I have a shower to go to during the day, and we are seeing our friends Renee and Eric for dinner. Sunday I will try to go to the pool, but we also have a bunch of stuff to do around the house to get ready for my family, and possibly Bert's mom, to come in next weekend!

On a side note, I was recently informed that you had to have a google account to leave comments on my blog, but I adjusted the settings so that anyone can leave a comment, so feel free to write!

"Oh, What a Night"

Or what a weekend, I should say! Yesterday Bert and I went on a date night to celebrate my birthday. We went to Morton's Steakhouse and had the best dinner! They really have great service there! They had special menus that said "Happy Birthday Heather" printed on them. They also took our picture and put it in a card that was signed by the staff and gave us a piece of this delicious hot chocolate cake with a candle in it! It was great! We then went to the Fox Theatre and saw the play "Jersey Boys," which is a musical based on the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. They have had nearly forty hits in the top 40. We knew the majority of the songs and the crowd was clapping and dancing in their seats.

Some souvenirs from our night:

MMMMM Hot Chocolate Cake!
Today I got a dress for my uncle's wedding which is in two weeks! If you see me out and about looking a little too fancy in a black dress, it's because I am determined to wear this maternity dress more than once :-)

Tonight Bert and I are taking out a couple of friends to celebrate their marriage. Their wedding was very "spur of the moment," so they didn't have a reception. We'll take them out to Kani House, which will be great because I remember them saying they love hibachi and so do I!

Tomorrow is my actual birthday and I decided to take the day off work since for once I actually have plenty of vacation time. I plan on floating in the pool and taking it easy. Then Karen, Sylvie and I are going to Provino's for dinner! Bert has his first day of the new semester, so he won't be joining us.

This week will probably be pretty busy. I have a doctors appointment Thursday. I don't think it will be too eventful other than that I am starting to meet the other doctors and midwives at the practice, since I guess you don't really know who will be on call when the baby comes. Speaking of the baby, Camryn has learned the art of baby acrobatics in my belly, I feel like she is doing somersaults in there sometimes. Bert gets a kick out of it too! As a matter of fact the other night she was kicking and Bert put his face to my belly to talk to her and she kicked/punched him the the face! Hahahaha!

Also on Thursday I have my first eye doctor appointment in probably twenty years! I am a little nervous about it for some reason! My vision is still good, but I want to have an exam while I still have vision insurance, because after I start working from home I will probably not have it anymore.

I forgot to mention that Miller remembered my birthday this year! When I came home there were flowers and a card from him! What a thoughtful cat (and hubby) And yes, I got them early, Miller knows how impatient I can be!

Making Progress!

Here are some current pics of the nursery and the guest room/office. The nursery still has work to be done, but we've got some time. The crib came today and it's AMAZING! It converts to a full size bed, so we should have it for a long time! Other then putting a few pictures on the wall in the office, that's about it for that room. It's a little cramped, but everything fit, and our guests still have a place to sleep!
Here is the guest room/office, or as we like to call it, the guest office!

Here is Camryn's crib. She has better furniture than us in her room!

Busy as ever at (almost) week 26!

Sorry I have been off the blog for longer than usual! We have been really busy around here! Last weekend we went to South Florida and got to see Bert's parents, sister, nephews, my dad, stepdad Eric, grandpa, brother, sister, friends of the family, and our friends! All in three days! It was not exactly a relaxing trip to say the least, but it was nice to spend time with everyone. Everyone was rubbing the baby bump, and seemed really excited about the baby, which got us even more excited! Only 14 weeks or so to go!
Here is a pic of the cutie nephews, like the tattoo? it's real ;-)

Also I found out that our crib came in waaaaaaaay sooner than they originally told me, so I have been in hustle mode to get Camryn's room together. Last night we brought some furniture down to the garage, and since my sweet husband wouldn't let me lift anything heavy, he hit the headboard of the guest bed on the stairwell.....twice.... and made a couple of holes. Luckily we still have touch up paint from when we moved in! Today we had a painter come in and paint the nursery and the office. The nursery is a pale yellow and the office is a cream color. Of course Miller had to follow the painter around and he dipped his tail in yellow paint! He then smeared it across the dresser and hardwood floors! Tonight Bert and I have the fun task of cutting it out of his fur!

This weekend should be pretty relaxing, Saturday night we are doing a girls Mexican night, and Bert is going to our neighbors bachelor party. Next week I hope to have the crib delivered and set up, and when I do, I'll post some pics! I don't plan on putting on the bedding for a while, so it will just be the plain crib, but I'm sure it will still look very nursery-ish in there very soon!

Here are the patches from the holes in the wall.

And here is Miller with pale yellow paint on his tail!

Don't worry - be happy! Week 24!

I am now about halfway through week 24, and I am finally starting to feel the pressure that I have A LOT to do in approximately sixteen weeks. Usually I like to get things done super early, but for some reason the thought of dismantling my guest room and office has not been that appealing, so I have been putting things off. I did get in the bedding last week, and it is SO cute (thanks mom and Rebecca), here is a pic:

I didn't get all of the accessories, but I must admit, I got a lot of them!

Now I am about to order the crib and pick out my paint colors, and try to squeeze our guest room bed into the office. Keep your fingers crossed for me, because we don't really have a backup plan, but Bert thinks we can do it, so I'll have faith :-) I called the place that we are getting the crib from today and they told me that if I want to guarantee that it will get here in time, I need to order it by next week, so that pretty much sent me into a minor frenzy, but Bert and I went for a nice walk and I feel much better!

Last week I did my gestational diabetes test, and I haven't heard anything back, so hopefully no news is good news. The glucose drink wasn't that bad taste-wise, but it made Camryn's little heart pound, and gave me an all day headache!

This past weekend, we had Heather's shower at Mittie's Tea Room in Roswell, I think she had a good time, and I know I did! She got some really cute gifts. Baby girl stuff is just so sweet!! I should have some pics posted soon. It was nice to see some of her friends that I only see a few times a year! One of her oldest friends, Shelby, who I have known for at least the nine years that I have lived here brought a little outfit for Camryn. How nice is that!! After that we went to a couples BBQ for our neighbors, Scott and Gina, it was really fun and the food was great! I get tired so early nowadays so I was proud that I made it till 10:30. Pitiful :-)

This coming weekend for memorial day we are flying down to South Florida to see Bert's family, some of my family and some good friends! Also my brother and sister are flying down, so it will be great to see them too! I always feel like we are so busy when we go down there, and we are spread so thin, but we'll do our best to spend time with everyone, one last time before the baby comes!
